PREVIEW & STATS -GAME #22 – Canadiens @ Dallas (Nov. 21/2017)

This is the first of back-to-back games (atNashville Wednesday) and the 4th of fourteen this season. The Canadiens were swept in the first two back-to-back series this season and then swept their most recent with an OT win at Winnipeg followed by a shutout win in Chicago.

….Canadiens goalt ending is now worst in the league at .886 save percentage; Canadiens shooting percentage is last in the league at 6.5% despite ranking 13th in shots against per game. (Tampa leads at 12.4%)

….The Canadiens have lost three games in a row and four of the last five. (1-3-1). Prior to that they had won five of six (4-1-1) and crept to within a win of .500. They are again 3 wins below .500.

EMBARRASSED AT HOME – Arizona-5 Canadiens-4 (Nov. 16, 2017)

For the first time in his career Charlie Lindgren allowed more than two goals and  still he could have been named a one of the game stars.

Lindgren stopped four breakaways in the game, three of them while the Canadiens were on the same power play including two from Derek Stepan within ten seconds of each other .

 I thought the first Arizona goal was stoppable. His chances of preventing the other four ranged from slim to nil.  

STATS PREVIEW GAME #20 Arizona @ Canadiens (Nov. 16/2017)

At the Bell Centre the Coyotes have an all-time record of 2-20-1 with two ties. Over that stretch they have been outscored 107 to 48.

….The Canadiens won both of last season’s meetings. @Bell Centre Oct 20th – Canadiens-5 Coyotes-2. @Arizona Feb. 9th – Canadiens-5 Coyotes-4.

….In the two meetings last season Max Pacioretty had points on half of the Canadiens goals (2g, 3a). Alex Galchenyuk also scored 2 goals.

STATS PREVIEW GAME #19 – Columbus @ Canadiens (Nov. 14/2017)

The Canadiens 1-0 Bell Centre win over the Blue Jackets on Feb. 28th ended a four game losing streak vs. Columbus. Over the last five meetings the Canadiens are 1-4-0 and were outscored 22-6. (That includes last season’s 10-0 shutout loss Nov. 4th at Columbus) ​

….Columbus won two of three last season and outscored the Canadiens 12-2. Nick Foligno and Alexander Wennberg each recorded 5 points in three games.

….The Canadiens have a 6-4-2 home record with one tie.since the Blue Jackets joined the league for the 2000-2011 season.

Since the start of the 2008-2009 season the Canadiens have lost 13 of 20 home games vs. Buffalo. (7-11-2)

….Over the last 12 seasons (2005-2006) a total of ten Buffalo/Canadiens games have gone into overtime. The Sabres have won nine of them.

….Over the last six full seasons, the Sabres have won 11 of 16 at the Bell Centre (11-5-1). Last season they split at Montreal with the Canadiens; winning 3-2 in overtime Jan. 21st on Zach Bogosian’s goal and losing 5-2 Jan 31st (Max Pacioretty – 3 goals).

The Canadiens are trying to avoid being swept in the two-game season series for the third straight season.

With five wins in their last seven games the Canadiens record over the last ten games is now even at 5-5-0. They were 1-3-1 over the season’s first five games.

GAME PREVIEW – STATS & INFO Canadiens @ Chicago (Nov. 5, 2017)

.Both teams are playing the second of back-to-back games.

….The Canadiens haven’t won a game at the United Centre in 15 years (0-7-0). The last win in Chicago was Feb. 27, 2002. In the 3-2 win the Canadiens got goals from Jan Bulis, Chad Kilger and Stephane Quintal. Jeff Hackett was in goal for Montreal.

….Since the start of the 2009-2010 season Chicago is 10-0-2 vs. the Canadiens.

….Chicago has now beaten the Canadiens eight straight times, the longest win streak against the Canadiens in the 81 year history of the rivalry.

….Montreal has won two of eight road games this season (OT in Buffalo & Ottawa). On the road they have been outscored 35-19. (average 4.37 GA to2.37GF)
