The Canadiens needed a warm body to fill the skates of Max Pacioretty who was suspended three games Monday by the NHL.
The fact that it was Louis Leblanc who was the chosen one may have been a matter of finding the last man standing in Hamilton. With eight players injured and another three already up with the team, the Bulldogs well is pretty much dry. The team was forced to play with only sixteen skaters on Saturday night in Rochester.
So, the choices seemed to be between Leblanc and rightwinger Alexander Avtsin who is also in the learning process. Neither has NHL ability at this stage, either physically or in terms of skill. Don’t expect to see a lot of Leblanc in the three west coast games. His sweater number will be 71.
