……This is the sixth of eight meetings between the two clubs this season. The Bulldogs are 2-3-0  against the IceCaps this season.  St. John’s is an affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets.

…..The Bulldogs have won four of their last five games, led by a forward line of Andreas Engqvist, Blake Geoffrion and Joonas Nattinen.  Bulldogs are ranked 12th in the AHL West, six points behind the eighth and final playoff berth.

…..Three Hamilton Bulldog regulars are currently with the Canadiens, Aaron Palushaj, Louis Leblanc and Michael Blunden.  Also called up at verious times during the season were forwards Engqvist and Ian Schultz plus defenceman Frederic St. Denis.

…..#51 – Blake Geoffrion has registered seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) in his first three games in Hamilton.  He was acquired last Friday along with Robert Slaney and a second round draft pick in return for Hal Gill.  In 22 games with the Nashville affiliate in Milwaukee Geoffrion had  2 goals and 7 assists.

……#23 – Joonas Nattinen was named AHL Player of the Week for scoring four goals and adding one assist in the week’s three games. He is currently on a four game goal streak  with five goals, one assist over that stretch.

…..#22 – Andreas Engqvist has a four game point streak.  He has four game-winning goals for Hamilton this season.  In the 32 games since he was returned to the Bulldogs by the Canadiens on Dec. 2nd, Engqvist has a total of 26 points;  13 goals, 13 assists.  Engqvist has played in ten games with the Canadiens this season.

….. RW Alexander Avtsin (#67) played his 100th career game as a Bulldog last Friday.  Avtsin, who will not turn 21 until next month, has been bothered by injury for much of the season playing 47 games with 6 goals and 7 assists.

……RW Ian Schultz (#21) has recorded five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in his past six games and equalled his season-high points per game record with three against Rochester last week.   Schultz came to the Canadiens organization as part of the Jaroslav Halak/Lars Eller trade.

…..D Garrett Stafford (#55) leads the AHL in power play goals by a defenceman.

…..RW Alain Berger (#11)  scored his first goal as a professional against the Rochester Americans last week.  Berger is a Swiss National who played in Oshawa last season and was signed as a free agent last summer.

….. G Nathan Lawson (#52) has won a season-high four consecutive games while posting a 2.00 GAA, 0.929 save percentage and one shutout.

…..The Bulldogs injury list has been a lengthy one all season.  Currently they are missing forwards Dany Masse, Olivier Fortier and Gabriel Dumont and Alexander Avtsin.

……RW Spencer Machacek currently leads the IceCaps with 37 points (12 goals, 25 assists).  Machacek was taken by Atlanta/Winnipeg in the third round of the 2007 entry draft.

……Former Bulldog and Canadiens forward Ben Maxwell is a member of the IceCaps and their top goaltender is David Aebischer, also a former goaltender.  .
