Ryan Hamilton broke a 1-1 tie with his 25th goal of the season and Greg Scott scored into an empty net as the Toronto Marlies beat the Hamilton Bulldogs 3-1 Sunday at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto.

The loss eliminated officially eliminated the Bulldogs from the playoffs for only the fourth time in the team’s sixteen year history.

Nicolas Deschamps scored the other Toronto goal and added an assist.

Joonas Naatinen scored the only goal for the Bulldogs who lost their third game in a row.

It was Hamilton’s  seventh straight loss against the Marlies.  The Bulldogs finished the twelve game season series against Toronto with a 4-7-1 record.

Robert Mayer was back in the Hamilton net after being returned to the Bulldogs by the Canadiens Saturday night.  Also back in the lineup were Louis Leblanc, Blake Geoffrion, Gabriel Dumont, Aaron Palushaj and defenceman Frederic St. Deni, all of whom were in the Canadiens lineup at the Bell Centre against the Leafs.

Hamilton has three games left on their schedule; against Lake Erie in Cleveland Friday and then back to back home games against Grand Rapids on Saturday and Sunday.
