Randy Cunneyworth - Randy Ladouceur

Randy Cunneyworth and Randy Ladouceur were fired by Canadiens new head coach Michel Therrien today.  More politely put, they were ‘relieved of their duties’ as assistant coaches.  They probably deserved better but Therrien exercised a head coach’s right to put together his own staff.

“Following my appointment as head coach of the Montreal Canadiens, I made the decision of bringing together a new coaching staff. Out of respect for Randy Cunneyworth and Randy Ladouceur, I felt it was important that I notify them immediately in order for them to start looking for other opportunities without further delay. On behalf of the organization, I would like to thank both of them for their valuable contribution to the team and wish them the very best for the future,” said Therrien in a release.

Both Cunneyworth and Ladouceur were promoted from Hamilton to assistant coaching jobs at the beginning of last season.    Subsequently Cunneyworth was named interim head coach of the Canadiens in December after Jacques Martin was fired.
