20-Louis Leblanc – Assigned to Hamilton Bulldogs

Interesting to note that while Leblanc, Geoffrion and Blunden were sent to Hamilton, forward Aaron Palushaj and defenseman Frederic St. Denis, both of whom also finished the season with Canadiens and are also working on two-way contracts, were not assigned to the Bulldogs.  Goaltender Cedrick Desjardins also remains in limbo.  The Canadiens needed to ask waivers on the trio and GM Marc Bergevin clearly wanted to avoid the situation that saw Columbus claim defenseman Francois Beauchemin two days before the 2004 lockout.   For the moment at least, the trio faces the same lockout conditions as the rest of their Canadiens teammates but they are expected to sign AHL contracts shortly.
