Three members of the Canadiens were among sixteen locked out NHLer’s in action in the Swiss National League Saturday night.
Raphael Diaz assisted in the opening goal as EV Zug defeated the Kloten Flyers 7-2 before 4800 fans in Zug.
Defenseman Yannick Weber failed to make the scoresheet as Geneva-Servette shutout Davos 3-0. It was Geneva’s seventh straight win to start the season, a streak that has seen them outscore their opposition 23-9. In four games with Geneva Weber has a goal and two assists with 12 shots on goal.
Max Pacioretty also was without a point as Ambri-Piotta dropped a 3-2 decision in Zurich. Pacioretty led both teams with seven shots on goal. It was Pacioretty’s second game in the Swiss League.
The other Canadiens in Europe were idle Saturday. Tomas Plekanec and Tomas Kaberle will continue their road trip with their Kladno teammates with a game against Mountfield Budějovice Sunday night. The Knights are third in the league with 5 wins and 2 losses, one of the losses in shootout.
Alexei Emelin has yet to play with Ak-Bars Kazan. Kazan will play it’s next game Monday in St. Petersburg before moving on to play Dynamo in Moscow on Wednesday.
