41-Tomas Plekanec Stopped Against Oceláři Třinec Oct. 3

For the first time this season, the Tomas Plekanec unit was held off the scoresheet but the Kladno Knights still won their sixth game in a row beating EHC Oceláři Třinec 3-1.

The win, before 6790 at Kladno’s Zimni Stadion, moved them into a first place tie with Brno in the Czech Extraliga.  Brno holds a game in hand.

Jan Hlavac, Michal Dragoun and George Kuchler scored the goals Rytíři Kladno (Kladno Knights)  who lost a shutout in the final minute.

Defenses took over in a game that was supposed to be a battle between two of the best offensive teams in the league. Třinec’s top line features former Canadien and team captain Radek Bonk along with Vaclav Varada and Martin Ruzicka.   They were held off the scoresheet until the final minute.

The Plekanec line was limited to four shots on goals, two each by Plekanec and Jiri Tlusty.  Jaromir Jagr had none.

All of the teams with members of the Canadiens on their roster will see action next on Friday.  Kladno will play in Zlin.  In the Swiss League, Raphael Diaz and Zug will host Bern; Geneva featuring Yannick Weber will play at home against Biel and Max Pacioretti will be with cellar dwelling Ambri-Piotta will be playing against rival Lugano.

Andrei Markov has agreed to a contract with Vityaz Chekhov of the KHL.  Vityaz will be in Latvia to play Dynamo Riga Friday.  It will a coach’s decision on whether he plays.  Markov told reporters Wednesday that he is ready.
