CHANGE OF PLANS – Bulldogs Sign Defenceman Antoine Corbin

Oct 10th, 2012 | By | Category: Hockey-General News, St. John's IceCaps

It’s possible the Canadiens jumped the gun when they originally announced the release of the three defencemen remaining on a tryout contract earlier Wednesday.   With Morgan Ellis back in Montreal undergoing treatment for an undisclosed injury, the Bulldogs were left with only six on their blueline.

Although hardly an offensive force (see below) Corbin is 6’3″ and 206 pounds and plays a physical game which fits into the direction the Canadiens are trying to go on defence.  Corbin was born in Granby, Quebec but has developed his hockey skills in Western Canada since he was twelve.

The signing now leaves 25 players in the Bulldogs camp.  They’ll be cutting a goaltender and probably a forward before they break training camp Friday.   The season opener will be Saturday at Grand Rapids Michigan.
