27 – Andrei Markov – Vityaz Chekhov

Only Andrei Markov was in action among the Canadiens currently on the roster of a European hockey club Wednesday night.  Playing at home before an announced crowd of 3,100 Vityaz Chekhov lost to Avangard Omsk 3-1.

In 20 shifts and 20:14 Markov failed to register a point.  He had four shots on goal.

(The overall statistical line on Markov: 8GP  – 0 goals 1 assist, minus-1, icetime average 19:42 and 21.8 shifts)

Included on the Avangard roster are former Canadiens forwards Sergei Kostitsyn, Alexander Perezhogin and defenseman Pavel Valentenko none of whom figured in the scoring.

……The Czech Extraliga enters it’s 16th round of games with Kladno (Plekanec/Kaberle) due to host  the Ostrava Vitkovice Steelers on Friday.

…..In the KHL –  Ak-Bars Kazan (Emelin) is on a 6,000 kilometre road trip to the Eastern Siberian city of Khabarovsk where they play Thursday.

…..In the American Hockey League, Hamilton will play the Toronto Marlies for the third time in five games this season at Copps Coliseum on Friday.

…..Thursday in the OHL, Canadiens 2012 draft choices go head-to-head.   First rounder Alex Galchenyuk (12GP – 5 goals, 10 assists) and the Sarnia Sting will host Windsor Spitfires including 4th round pick (94th) Brady Vail (13GP – 6goals, 10 assists).

…..And in the Western Hockey League the 12-0-1 Kamloops Blazers host the Brandon Wheat Kings.  Blazers leftwinger Tim Bozon (Canadiens 3rd round-64th) has 11-goals, 10 assists in 13 games-fourth overall in the WHL.
