Canadiens first round draft pick Alexander Galchenyuk scored two goals and an assist as the OHL’s Sarnia Sting defeated the Windsor Spitfires 5-2 in Sarnia Thursday night.  He also was stopped on a penalty shot attempt with scored tied 2-2 in the second period.

The game featured two Canadiens selections from the 2012 entry draft, Galchenyuk (3rd overall) and Brady Vail of the Spitfires (taken in the 4th round, 94th overall).  Both play on their respective team’s first line and lead their team in points.  The Florida-born Vail was held off the scoresheet but has 6 goals and 10 assists this season in 14 games.

With his three point game Galchenyuk has 18 points in 13 games; 7 goals and 11 assists.  His second goal on the night was into an empty net.

Sarnia’s next game will be at Erie Saturday night, while Windsor moves on to Guelph Friday night.

……..On Friday  in the Western Hockey League, the Kamloops Blazers with a record of 12-0-1 to start the season, will host the Brandon Wheat Kings.  Another Canadiens 2012 draft pick, Blazers leftwinger Tim Bozon (3rd round  2012-64th) has 11-goals, 10 assists in 13 games-fourth overall in the WHL scoring race.
