European hockey is picking up after the annual November pause.  The first of the locked out Canadiens to see action was Tomas Plekanec with the Kladno Knights of the Czech Extraliga.  After missing the last two games of the Karjala Cup tournament in Finland because of insurance issues, Plekanec and his Kladno  teammates lost a 4-3 decision at the Silesian city of  Třinec Monday losing a 4-3.  Plekanec failed to get a point.  His linemate Jaromir Jagr scored one of the Kladno goals.

At the Finland tournament Plekanec played and scored in the opening game but then passed up the rest of the tourney as the Czech Republic won the Karjala Cup for the first time since the tournament was established in 1996.

…….The Swiss League resumes Tuesday with Raphael Diaz and Zug hosting Zurich.  David Desharnais will makes his Fribourg debut Friday at home against Biel.  Yannick Weber and Geneva is at Zurich also on Friday.

…….The KHL picks up it’s schedule Wednesday.  Ak-Bars (Alexei Emelin) are in Riga Latvia.  Vityaz Chekhov  (Andrei Markov) hosts Dynamo Minsk.

……And Lars Eller is expected to make his debut with JYP Jyväskylä of Finland’s SM-Liga Friday at home against Tappara Tampere.  Among his teammates are Montrealers and former NHLer’s Ramzi Abid and Eric Perrin
