In front of a school day crowd of over ten thousand at Copps Coliseum the Hamilton Bulldogs dropped a 4-1 decision to the Rochester Americans.
The Bulldogs lack of experience and finish around the net surfaced again. They piled up 16 shots on goal in the first period but trailed 1-0. In the second period they mustered only four shots and gave up three more.
Joonas Nattinen scored the only Hamilton goal late in the third period. Undrafted defenseman Antoine Corbin picked up his first professional point with an assist on the goal.
The game was played in front of a Student’s Day 10.00 AM crowd of 10,649 at Copps Coliseum.
Before the game the Bulldogs announced the signing of goaltender 6’6″ goaltender Scott Darling to a 25-game professional tryout contract. (Team Announcement Below) Darling wound up playing in the third period replacing starting goaltender Robert Mayer after he had give up the fourth goal of the game. Darling stopped all eight shots he faced. The Bulldogs now have four goaltenders in their game, Mayer, Darling, Peter Delmas plus the injured Cedrick Desjardins.
Once again Rochester forward Frederick Roy ran afoul of a Bulldog rookie. In the team’s last meeting he fought Brendan Gallagher. Late in the first period he fought Hamilton’s Nathan Beaulieu.
The Bulldogs will play in Rochester Thursday.
