Alexei Emelin – Ak-Bars Kazan

Alexei Emelin turned himself into a scoring machine over the last week.    Emelin scored a power play goal as Ak-Bars beat Donetsk at Kazan Sunday night.  In his first 12 KHL games Emelin had no goals and one assist.  In his last three he has 2 goals and 2 assists.  Emelin’s ice time was 19:49.

Andrei Markov missed his seventh consecutive game with that self-described “minor rib injury” and Chekhov lost a 3-2 decision in front of 12,100 fans at St. Petersburg.   We were told Markov suffered bruised ribs on October 26th.  It’s been a month and the suspicion now is, it might be a little more serious, like a broken rib or two.

The Kladno Knights of the Czech Extraliga dropped a 5-3 decision in Litvinov Sunday.   Tomas Plekanec had a goal and assist.   Plekanec has a goal and four assists his last two games and in 23 games this season has 35 points on 17 goals and 18 assists.   Linemate Jaromir Jagr scored 2 goals and an assist.  Plekanec and Jagr may be hot but their team isn’t.  The Knights have lost five of their last six games.

In the ECHL, Scott Gomez was out of the Alaska Aces lineup for the second straight game with what is being called a minor upper body injury.  Without him the Aces edged the Utah Grizzlies 5-4 in overtime.  The game was played at Salt Lake City.  Alaska now moves on to California for three games; Wednesday at Stockton, Friday at Bakersfield and Saturday at Ontario.

Two of the Canadiens junior draft choices saw action Sunday.  Fifth round pick Charles Hudon  picked up an assist as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens edged the Quebec Remparts 2-1 in a shootout.  In 21 games Hudon has 14 goals and 15 assists.

And in the OHL Canadiens fourth round choice in 2012 Brady Vail was again kept off the scoresheet as Kingston edged the Windsor Spitfires 4-3.
