81-Lars Eller- JYP  Jyväskylä

Lars Eller continues to light it up in Finland’s SM-Liiga and his JYP Jyväskylä teammates are enjoying the ride.  Eller assisted on the winning and game clinching goals in a 4-2 home ice win over HIFK Helsinki Friday night.  It was JYP’s third win in a row.  Eller has now played six games for JYP with 4 goals and six assists.

Bruins forward and Eller linemate Rich Peverley scored twice and the line of Eller-Peverley and Montreal native Eric Perrin took 21 of the unreal total of 68 shots taken on Joni Ortio in the Helsinki net. Jyväskylä outshot Helsinki  68-31.  (Equally unreal – Ortio was not named one of  the three stars in the game)

JYP struggled through most of October and early November. Since Eller joined them they are 4-2-0 and have moved up to fifth overall in the SM-Liiga overall standings.  Washington’s Mathieu Perreault made his debut with  Helsinki in this game, picking up an assist.

……..On to Switzerland where the head-on meeting between Canadiens defense partners Raphael Diaz and Yannick Weber turned out to be a  no-contest.    Raphael Diaz and EV Zug scored a 5-2 win over Yannick Weber and the Geneva Eagles.  While Weber failed to get  a point and was minus-2, Diaz continued his current hot streak with a goal and an assist,  six shots on goal and a glittering  plus-5 rating.  Diaz is the highest scoring defenseman in the SNL with 7 goals, 19 assists for 29 points in 24 games.   He  has scored points in eight straight games (4 goals, 6 assists).   Detroit’s Henrik Zetterberg had a goal and two assists for Zug.

David Desharnais and Fribourg were 3-0 winners at Biel.  Desharnais recorded one assist.  Chicago’s Patrick Kane and Boston’s Tyler Seguin were in the Biel lineup.

In the Kontinental Hockey League neither Andrei Markov nor Alexei Emelin showed up on the scoresheet as both Chekhov and Kazan lost their games.

At home against Traktor Chelyabinsk, Vityaz lost 3-2.  Playing in his second game after missing seven with a rib injury, Markov logged 17 shifts and 18:22 and had four shots on goal.  Only 2600 watched the game in the Moscow suburb of Chekhov.

At Nizhny Novgorod, Ak-Bars suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of Torpedo.  Emelin put in 19:25 and 24 shifts with one shot on goal.
