Alexei EmelinApparently Alexei Emelin‘s coaches have told him to step up the offensive side of his game.  While he didn’t get a point, Emelin had an assist and five shots on goal as Ak-Bars edged Novosibirsk 5-4 in a shootout Wednesday. Emelin’s assist came on a power play, of all things.  The defense-oriented Emelin has been on, for him, a scoring rampage with two goals and three assists in his last seven games.  That accounts for five of the total of six points he;s scored in his nineteen games with Kazan.   The game was played in front of 3400 at Kazan.   Emelin logged 20:07 and 26 shifts.  Novosibirsk has lost fourteen straight games at Kazan.  Their last win in the capital city of Tatarstan was November 2002.

In the KHL, Andrei Markov assisted on a goal as Vityaz outlasted Yugra 5-4 before 2500 at Khanty-Mansiysk.  Markov had one shot on goal and 17:08 ice time.  Only 2500 watched the game in the 5500 capacity Yugra Arena.
