When asked about Max Pacioretty’s absence at the Canadiens Saturday morning practice, head coach Michel Therrien said “ “Max has a slight fever so we told him to stay home.”

Turns out it was something more than “flu-like” symptoms.  Pacioretty was rushed to hospital where he underwent an emergency appendectomy.

Three games into the season, Pacioretty had been the only productive member of the Canadiens top line with four assists and a team-leading ten shots on goal.   In Saturday morning practice Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien used Lars Eller on left wing with David Desharnais and Erik Cole.

Last season, Pacioretty scored 33 goals and recorded 32 assists in 79 games played.

Michael Blunden has been recalled from the Hamilton Bulldogs to replace Pacioretty on the Canadiens roster.
