Notes –

….The last time the Bruins and Canadiens met was eight days short of a year ago, Feb. 15, 2012 (357 days).  The Bruins won the game in a shootout.

….The Bruins have won four straight games against the Canadiens, each game decided by a single goal.  Carey Price was in goal for all four games with a 2.24 GAA.

…..The Bruins have given up two or fewer goals five times and have outshot five straight opponents.

…..The Canadiens have won five in a row this season at the Bell Centre.

….. League Leaders – Carey Price shares the league lead in wins with 6.  Alexei Emelin leads with 34 ‘hits’ and Josh Gorges with 29 blocked shots.  The Canadiens have given up seven even strength goals, fewest in the NHL.

…..The Bruins have scored only 3 power play goals in 30 advantages this season.

……In their four game winning streak versus the Canadiens the Bruins were 1 for 15 with the man advantage.

……Carey Price was in net for all four losses during the Canadiens losing streak last year in the series with a 2.24 GAA.

……Tuuka Rask has lost five straight starts to the Canadiens with a 3.45 goals-against average, last facing them Oct. 29, 2011.

……Rask bounced back  from giving up six goals against the Sabres to make 21 saves for his first shutout of the season in Toronto Saturday night.

……After taking the loss in the 2-1 season opener vs. Toronto, Carey Price has won his past six starts with a 1.65 GAA.

……The Canadiens have allowed 17 goals in their eight games to date this season.

……Max Pacioretty has one goal and one assist in his last seven games against Boston.  The streak dates back to March 8th 2011 when was disabled by Zdeno Chara.

……Last time the Canadiens played the Bruins (Feb.15th) the Canadiens had six regulars out with injuries ( Moen, Weber, Blunden, Gionta, Markov and Nokelainen) while the Bruins were missing only Nathan Horton and Marc Savard.  Going into this game, only Nokelainen is missing while the Bruins have five missing because of injury plus Tim Thomas on suspension.

….. The Bruins have brought up Ryan Spooner (45th overall 2010) from their Providence Farm team where is tied for the team lead I points (9-21 = 30) and has 3 g, 11a his last 12 games.  Spooner would replace Brad Marchand in the lineup if he’s unavailable.

…..Rich Peverley and Lars Eller were linemates with JYP  Jyväskylä in Finland’s SM-liiga during the lockout.  In 15 games Eller scored 5g & 10 assists.  Peveryly, in 29GP was 9-14  23pts.

…..The Bruins still have forward Jay Pandolfo in their camp on a professional tryout contract.  He has yet to play.

Last Time Out – Boston lost 7-4 to Buffalo on Thursday, giving up four consecutive goals in the third period.  Followed that with a 1-0 win in Toronto Saturday.   Canadiens  defeated Ottawa 2-1 on Sunday for their second straight victory overall, allowing one goal for the second consecutive game.

Last Season – Montreal swept Boston in a home-and-home at the end of October.  Since,  the Bruin recorded four straight one-goal victories. @ TD Garden Oct. 27/2011 Canadiens-2 Boston-1. Bergeron credited with game’s first goal directly off a faceoff won by Plekanec.  Canadiens come back with Cole and Plekanec.  Desharnais/Cole/Cammalleri had 13 of the Canadiens 35 shots.  Marchand and Subban fight.  @Bell Centre Oct. 29/2011 –  Canadiens-4  Boston-2. Canadiens take 3-0 lead on goals by Gionta, Eller and Desharnais.  Bruins come back (Lucic and Seguin).  Plekanec into an empty net.  Canadiens block 29 Bruins shots. @Bell Centre Nov. 21  Boston-1 Canadiens-0. Tim Thomas won the goaltenders battle against Carey Price.  Canadiens outshot the Bruins 33-18, including 15-5 in the third period.  Andrew Ference scored the lone goal in the 16th minute of the first period.    Dec.19/2011 – @Boston    – Boston-3 Canadiens-2.  The Bruins capitalized on two Canadiens turnovers to take a 3-1 lead and then held on in the final minute for a 3-2 win.  Randy Cunneyworth’s second straight loss since taking over the team.   Benoit Pouliot, David Krejci and Brad Marchand scored for Boston.  Tomas Plekanec and Erik Cole for the Canadiens who outshot the Bruins 35-31.      Jan. 12/2012 @ TD Garden – Boston-2 Canadiens-1.  Bruins open 2-0 lead on a Jordan Caron goal after a puck took a bad bounce off the glass in the game’s second minute and third period goal by Milan Lucic.  Yannick Weber scored on the power play.  Tim Thomas vs. Carey Price.  Cammalleri traded to Calgary between the second and third periods.- Feb.15/2012   Boston-4 Canadiens-3 (shootout)  Andrew Ference, Benoit Pouliot and Patrice Bergeron scored in regulation.  Darche (SHG), Pacioretty and Cole for Canadiens.  Tyler Seguin scored the only shootout goal.
