022Not even head coach Michel Therrien was around the arena Wednesday morning as the Canadiens held an optional practice Wednesday.

Seven players were on the ice including both Carey Price and backup goaltender Peter Budaj.   Therrien was feeling the effects of a virus and remained at the team hotel.

Those on the ice included  the goaltenders plus Alex Galchenyuk and the recently re-called Gabriel Dumont, Yannick Weber who has yet to play a game this season, Tomas Kaberle and Petteri Nokelainen.  Nokelainen remains on Canadiens injury reserve while rehabilitating a back injury.

The Canadiens play the Hurricanes in Raleigh Thursday night.  There has been no indication of Therrien’s goaltending preference although, despite giving up twelve goals his last two starts, the likely choice will once again be Price.   Budaj will probably get one of the two starts in Florida on the weekend.
