…..The Canadiens are looking for a three game season sweep of the Hurricanes the first sweep since the team moved to Carolina.  The last time the Canadiens were undefeated against the franchise was 1983-84 when they were the Hartford Whalers and played in the Adams Division (7-0-1).

…..The Canadiens finished March with a 9-3-2 record.  They scored at least three goals in ten of the 14 games. In the games they didn’t score three their record was 1-3-0 (two of the three losses against Buffalo).

…..  The Canadiens do not have a player with more than 30 points but have seven with more than 20. In the entire league, only Pittsburgh has more players with 20 points or more. (8)

…..P.K. Subban is one point behind Ryan Suter and the injured Kris Letang in the defense scoring race.  Subban has 27 points, including 10 goals in 28 games.  He has played six fewer games than Suter.  Subban leads all defencemen with 10 goals.

…...Subban is the Canadiens leading scorer with 27 points.  Michael Ryder has 28 points this season but exactly half of them were scored when he was with the Dallas Stars.  With ten goals, he is also the third leading goalscorer behind Tomas Plekanec (13) and Brendan Gallagher (11).

…..The Hurricanes ended a seven game losing streak Saturday with a 3-1 in Winnipeg that left them 4 points behind the Jets for the lead in the Southeast Division.

…..For a team coached by Kirk Muller, Carolina special teams are surprisingly poor.  Their power play is ranked 28th in the league (13,2%). Their penalty killing is 26th (77.2%)

…..Prior to the win in Winnipeg Saturday, the Hurricanes had given up at least 4 goals in 5 straight games.

….Carey Price missed the first of the season series between the clubs.  Peter Budaj shut Carolina out 3-0 February 18.  Price stopped 42 of 44 shots in the 4-2 win March 7th. Price is third in the league with 17 wins.

….Justin Peters was the losing goaltender when the Hurricanes lost to Montreal March 7th.  It was his second NHL start.  Against Winnipeg Saturday he stopped 34 shots for the win.  He had given up four goals in each of his previous three starts.

….Eric Staal has failed to register a point in five of the last six games against the Habs.  Still, he has 19 points in his last 15 games against Montreal.

….The Staal/Semin/Tlusty line has scored 40 goals in 33 games this season.  Staal leads the way with 16.

.Brendan Gallagher is the third highest goalscorer on the Canadiens with 11.  Among league rookies he is second one goal behind Florida’s Jonathan Huberdeau‘s 12 and third in points behind Huberdeau (25) and Tampa’s Cory Conacher (24).   Gallagher missed the last game against the Hurricanes because of a concussion.

….Carolina forward Jeff Skinner suffered a concussion February 14th against Toronto.  In the 13 games before the injury he had 7 goals, 7 assists.  In the 15 games since his return he has five points (3goals,2assists).
