At 4:47 of the third period Monday, Colby Armstrong was blindsided by Patrick Dwyer of the Carolina Hurricanes. He left the game with what appeared to be a leg or knee injury of some sort and did not return. There was no penalty on the play and probably none deserved although it was knee-on-knee contact. (video below)
Armstrong has been placed on injury reserve.
Ryan White was on the team’s flight to Philadelphia and has a chance to play on the line with Jeff Halpern and Travis Moen when the Canadiens play the Flyers Wednesday night but considering the Philadelphia’s size and aggressiveness the Canadiens might be better advised to used 6’4″ Michael Blunden on the fourth line (only a suggestion).
Armstrong has appeared in 35 games with the Canadiens this season scoring 2 goals and 3 assists and averaging 11:20 per game.
