san antonio rampageAlex Belzile broke a 2-2 tie in the second period and the Hamilton Bulldogs skated toa 4-2 win over the San Antonio Rampage Friday night.  The win ended a three game Hamilton losing streak.

Petteri Nokelainen and Patrick Holland gave the Bulldogs a 2-0 first period lead but the Rampage tied the game early in the second period on goals by Greg Pallo and Colby Robak.  Nathan Beaulieu’s shorthand goal with 1:45 remaining sealed the Hamilton victory.  Beaulieu also had an assist.

The Bulldogs move on to Austin to play the Texas Stars Saturday night in the third game of their four game road trip.

 Notes

….. Nokelainen also had an assist,  his first two points in the ninth game of a rehabilitation assignment by the Canadiens.

……Belzile, who is up from the ECHL on a professional tryout contract has 3 goals and 4 assists in seven games for Hamilton.  Belzile played last season with Rimouski in the QMJHL.

….With an assist on the Belzile goal Danny Kristo, who signed a two year Canadiens contract on Monday, picked up his first professional point,  Kristo and Belzile played on an all-rookie line with Drummonville graduate Olivier Archambault.  Drummondville’s Charles Hudon also made his professional hockey debut.

…..The Bulldogs had ten rookies in their lineup including Kristo plus former Habs draft picks Olivier Archambault and Charles Hudon, who are in the Hamilton camp under Amateur Tryout Contracts.

……Among the nine players scratched for the game, three are on the injury list: centre Stephane Chaput (concussion); centre Joonas Natinen (shoulder) and left wing Blake Geoffrion (skull fracture).  The healthy scratches were defencemen Adam Ross, Joe Stejskal, Peter Merth plus forwards Philippe Lefebvre, Brady Vail and goaltender Jacob Gervais-Chouinard.
