Players will take part in on-ice practice sessions, physical testing as well as off-ice conditioning sessions, and three scrimmages.
Eighteen (18) of the 40 players at camp are Canadiens draft selections. The group includes first-round picks Michael McCarron (2013), Nathan Beaulieu (2011) and Jarred Tinordi (2010). Thirty (30) of the 40 players also participated in the Canadiens’ 2013 development camp.
Absent from the list are two of the Canadiens 2013 second round draft choices, left wingers Jacob de la Rose of Sweden and Finland’s 2013 rookie of the year Artturi Lehkonen, both of whom participated in the Lake Placid International Junior Tournament.
UPDATE – Rookie camp players will be on the ice Friday September 6th from 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., and will scrimmage at 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday and Monday. All on-ice sessions are open to the public. The main training camp opens next Wednesday, September 11th when players report for medicals and testing in Brossard. The Canadiens will hold a Red vs. White scrimmage on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Bell Centre, proceeds being donated to the Fonds Avenir Lac-Mégantic. Tickets, which cost $5 and include a free hot dog, a bag of chips and a soft drink. They are available online at canadiens.com or the Bell Centre ticket office. Over 10,000 tickets have already been sold.
