Marlies- oct 27The Hamilton Bulldogs, playing their third game in less than 72 hours, gave up two first period goals to the Toronto Marlies and didn’t have enough gas in the tank to come back, dropping a 3-2 decision at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.

The Bulldogs appeared road weary after a 4 ½ hour bus trip back to Hamilton following a win in Utica Saturday night and failed to find their legs until midway through the game.

Jerred Smithson scored 24 seconds into the game to get the Marlies started and Greg Mckegg made it 2-0 eight minutes later on a power play.

It stayed that way until late in the third when Nick Tarnasky scored his team-leading 5th goal on a power play with 2:06 remaining.  The Bulldogs then pulled their goaltender and Jerry D’Amigo scored into the empty net to make it 3-1.  Hamilton again pulled goaltender Robert Mayer and Greg Pateryn scored with 18 seconds left.  From there the Bulldogs ran out of time.

Shots on goal werte 25-22 in favour of the Marlies.  The game’s three stars were Toronto goaltender Drew MacIntyre and forward Gregg McKegg and Hamilton rookie forward Sven Andrighetto.
