Nothing goes undocumented in this age of cell phones with camera applications.

The Hamilton Bulldogs completed a three game sweep of an exhibition series series against the Ottawa Senators’ Binghamton farm team Sunday with a 4-3 shootout win. The series was played at the Mile-One Centre in St. John’s Newfoundland.

The shootout ran nine rounds before Dany Masse’ settled it. The shootout round was extended by Binghamton’s Kaspars Daugavins who shocked Hamilton goaltender Robert Mayer with a completely new wrinkle on shootout flim-flamery. The game wasn’t televised, but an alert St. John’s hockey fan caught it on cell phone.  You can watch it here.


In the three game series, Hamilton won 3-0, 3-2 and 4-3 in the shootout. In the three games David Desharnais and J.T. Wyman each had three goals and an assist. Aaron Palushaj, playing on a line with Desharnais and Wyman collected one goal and three assists. Other goals were scored by Neil Petruic, Gabriel Dumont. Mathieu Carles and Andreas Engqvist with 2 assists.

Robert Mayer played the first and last games, recording a shutout in game one and giving up three goals in the finale. Labrador City native Peter Delmas allowed the two goals in game two of the weekend series.

The Buldogs open their season on Friday October 15th in Rochester. The next night, October 16th, they’ll play the Toronto Marlies in their 15th home opener.
