The flu bug has bitten the Canadiens forcing them to recall forward Joonas Nattinen and defenseman Nathan Beaulieu from the Hamilton Bulldogs farm team. Both of them are expected to be in the Canadiens lineup when they play the Leafs in Toronto Saturday night.
Both Lars Eller and Raphael Diaz missed the Canadiens practice Friday in Toronto because of flu symptoms. Earlier in the week David Desharnais also came down with the bug and was only a game-time addition to the lineup in Ottawa Tuesday.
The 21 year old Beaulieu comes to the Canadiens riding an hot streak. He has five points his last five games with the Bulldogs. Overall, in 37 games . In 32 games with Hamilton, the 6’2”, 194-pound defenceman has recorded 14 points (four goals, 10 assists) and 21 penalty minutes. He also is minus-4. He recorded one assist in five games he played with the Canadiens earlier in the season.
Nattinen has developed a reputation for being a reliable defensive forward. Nattinen has spent all of this season to date with Hamilton. In 37 games, the 6’2”, 187-pound forward has recorded 11 points (five goals, six assists) and 12 penalty minutes.
At practice Friday Nattinen centered Travis Moen and George Parros on the fourth line. Daniel Briere was between Michael Bournival and Brandon Prust. Beaulieu skated with Francis Bouillon.
