Game Notes

.The Canadiens are 8-11-2 since Dec.9th and have lost four in a row during which they have been outscored 19-5 which averages out to 4.75 per game. That goals against average is worst in the NHL since January 18th.

. The Canadiens have scored more than two goals only twice in their last nine games, going 3-6-0 in that span. Two of their three victories were 2-1 decisions

.In the Canadiens last four games the Canadiens have scored five times, three of them in one game.

.The Habs are on their longest winless stretch since losing five straight from Feb. 19-28, 2012…  They have not won in regulation since January 6.

.. Canadiens’ power play has scored twice in 13 opportunities during the skid and five times over the last 50 advantages.

..While the Canadiens have lost their last four, Carolina has won it’s last four and with Monday night’s win over Columbus, have moved into third place in the Metropolitan Division with 57 points, one point ahead of the Blue Jackets.

.Including the New Year’s Eve 5-4 overtime win over the Canadiens Carolina is on a 10-3-0 stretch. Along with their four game win streak they also had a season-high five in a row from Dec. 31-Jan. 9.

..This will be the Hurricanes fifth game in seven nights and their second set of back to back games during the stretch.  

..Carolina’s win in overtime New Year’s eve snapped a three-game Canadiens win streak over the the Hurricanes. Montreal has won eight of the last 12 overall in this series as well as five of the past six played at the Bell Centre.

..The Canadiens have won five of the last six games against Carolina at the Bell Centre.

.The Hurricanes have had three of their January games postponed because of weather; in Buffalo January 7th, at Philadelphia January 21 and in Raleigh January 23rd against Ottawa. 

..P.K. Subban had a goal and three assists at Dallas on Jan. 2. In thed ten games since he has only three points.

.. Max Pacioretty, who leads the Canadiens with 21 goals, has only two the last ten games.

..Anton Khodbin  is 11-3-0 with a 2.18 goals-against average and .926 save percentage in 15 games, but has started the past three games,

…..Carrying the Hurricanes offense –  C-Eric Staal has four goals and five assists over a six-game point streak; RW- Alexander Semin– six-game points streak (six goals, three assists); D- Andrej Sekera – NHL’s Third Star of last Week – six points (1 goal, 5 assists) in last four games.

..The Hurricanes recalled former Canadiens prospect Aaron Palushaj Monday. With the Charlotte affiliate Palushaj had nine goals and 16 assists in his past 18 games, with eight multi-point games. He played 41 games for the Canadiens in parts of two seasons.
