...UPDATE – Peter Budaj will start in goal for the Canadiens.   Francis Bouillon and Raphael Diaz will again be healthy scratches.

….Peter Budaj has a career 3-1-0 record vs. Boston.  All three of his wins have come at Boston Garden, including two victories last season and a shutout win while with Colorado in 2007.

…The Canadiens have won four in a row against Boston and three straight in Boston.

The past nine straight Canadiens/Bruins games have been decided by one goal. Fourteen of the last sixteen games were also one goal games. The other two were decided by two goals because of last minute empty net goals.

.This will be Boston’s fourth game in the last six nights.

.With a record of 5-0-1 over the last six games, the Bruins have moved 10 points ahead of the Canadiens. Last time they met on December 5th the Canadiens win moved them ahead of the Bruins into in the Atlantic Division.

. If the playoffs started today, the Bruins’ first-round opponent would be the Canadiens who hold down the first wild card spot.

.This game will also snap a streak of five straight Canadiens-Bruins games that had first place in the division on the line, with the Montreal trailing Boston by 10 points in the Atlantic Division standings.

.. Since the last meeting on December 5th, the Boston penalty killing has dropped from 6th to 13th in NHL ranking – giving up 18 goals in 90 shorthanded situations.

.Montreal is ranked 29th in the NHL in 5-on-5 goals with 77 in 53 games, and its power play has scored three times in its past 33 attempts.

.George Parros has fought Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton once in the NHL, on Feb. 26, 2009 while Parros was a member of the Anaheim Ducks. They were linemates in Anaheim for a half season during the 2006-’07 season. Thornton fought Brandon Prust in the December game.
