The Canadiens trimmed their roster today by assigning goaltender Curtis Sanford, defensemen Alex Henry and Yannick Weber plus forwards Ryan White and Ben Maxwell to the Hamilton Bulldogs. Henry and Sanford had to clear waivers before they could be re-assigned.  No surprises.

The Canadiens open their season tomorrow with a depleted lineup.

Carey Price has the flu, Roman Hamrlik has had an injury setback, Michael Cammalleri is suspended and Andrei Markov is still rehabilitating. And so the season begins.

It looks like the Canadiens will start the season with Alex Auld in goal. Rookie Lars Eller on the left side of the Canadiens number one line with Tomas Plekanec and Andrei Kostitsyn. Off-season free-agent signing Alexandre Picard will be part of the Canadiens defence, probably paired with Ryan O’Byrne.
