gorges torontoOn Saturday night against in the overtime win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, Josh Gorges suffered a hand injury blocking a Mason Raymond shot in the first period.

He’s been trying to play through the injury in the road games in Los Angeles and Anaheim but it’s become too problematic.  The Canadiens sent Gorges back to Montreal from Phoenix Thursday.  He’ll be examined by Candiens doctors Friday.

There are some calling it a ‘minor fracture’ but because of the number of small bones in the hand, a brek can sometimes hard to pinpoint and the injury can be very painful and difficult to ignore.

Mike Weaver, who was acquired by the Canadiens from Florida on Tuesday for a fifth round draft choice will replace him in the lineup although, since he’s a right hand shot, his defense partner will proa brekbably not be P.K. Subban, who is also a right shot.

Gorges joins Carey Price (IR-lower body), Brandon Prust (IR-upper body) and Michael Bournival (IR-concussion) on the Canadiens current injury list.
