Bell Centre – March 25, 2014 – 7:35pm

Game Notes

..Canadiens lineup changes. Carey Price in goal. Travis Moen (head) and Dale Weise (wrist) out. Lars Eller and Ryan White in. Jarred Tinordi replaces Francis Bouillon.

.The Canadiens have won five of their last six games.

.Buffalo has lost eight of nine while scoring one or no goals in six of them.

.The Canadiens can complete their first season sweep of the Sabres in 35 years (1978-79). In their three straight wins this season, the Canadiens have outscored Buffalo 8-3.

.Going back to last season, the Canadiens have won four in a row against the Sabres.

.The Canadiens have not recorded consecutive home wins against Buffalo since April 3rd and Nov. 27, 2010.

.And indication of the rapid collapse of the Sabres, prior to their four consecutive losses to the Habs their record was 11-1-1 against them.

.There is a 90% chance the Canadiens will play Tampa Bay in the first round of the playoffs. Home ice in the series is up for grabs. The Canadiens enter the game tied with Tampa but the Lightning have a game in hand.

..The Sabres have an average shots-on-goal differential of minus-8.44, last in the NHL.

. Carey Price has won three of four since returning from his injury. He is 12-9-7 with a 2.00 goals against average and .933 save percentage in 28 career games against the Sabres.

..After the trade of Ryan Miller, Jhonas Enroth and Michal Neuvirth were left as Buffalo goaltenders. Both are out with injuries. The starters are now minor leaguers Nathan Lieuwen and Matt Hackett.

.. Matt Hackett will get the start. He is a nephew of former Canadiens goaltender Jeff Hacket. In his only start this season he made 35 saves in a 3-1 victory at Edmonton.

..Hackett appeared in 13 games with the Minnesota Wild the past two seasons. He has a career record of 4-7-0 with a 2.49 goals-against average and .920 save percentage.

.Thomas Vanek faces his former Buffalo teammates for the second time. He didn’t play against them while with the Islanders. He was held off the scoreboard in the Canadiens 2-0 win at Bufflao March 16th.

..Alex Galchenyuk has 3 goals and 4 assists in eight career games against Buffalo and a point in each of his last four against them (3goals, 1 assist).

..Max Pacioretty is one goal away from his career 100th. With 31 goals, he is two shy of his career high.

..Daniel Briere needs two goals to reach 300.

..6’8” Buffalo defenseman Tyler Myers returns to the Buffalo lineup after missing five games with an elbow laceration.

….The Canadiens have killed off 32 of the last 34 penalties against them – 94.1 %; far above their season record of 85.4% which ranks fourth in the league.

..The Canadiens face a four game road trip following this game (Detroit, Florida, Tampa and Ottawa). So far this season the Canadiens almost identical home & away records; 20-12-5 at the Bell Centre and 20-14-2 on the road. Five of their final eight games will be on the road.
