Canadiens at Buffalo

Last Season Sabres were 4-1-1 vs. Canadiens. Ryan Miller in goal for all six games.

The Last Two Meetings – March 24 in Buffalo.  Sabres-3  Canadiens-2 (shootout).  With the Canadiens leading 2-0, Ryan O’Byrne got a highsticking penalty 3:33 remaining.  Miller was removed for a 6-on-4 and Tim Connolly scored at 18:01.  Miller remained on the bench and Paul Gaustad scored to tie it at 19:12.  Sabres score two goals in the final 1:59 of regulation time to tie the game.   Andrei Kostitsyn 2 goals.  Pominville and Vanek score in shootout.  Miller stops Kostitsyn and Cammalleri.   April 3rd – Bell Centre Montreal-3  Buffalo-0.  Halak stops 29 for the shutout. His second straight in two nights. Canadiens outshot Sabres 38-29.  O’Byrne, Pyatt and Sergei Kostitsyn score the goals. 

The Leaders – Canadiens Andre Kostitsyn 4-goals. Buffalo – Tim Connolly 3-goals.

The Season So Far – Montreal 1-1-1. Lost to Tampa 4-3 in OT Wednesday. Buffalo 1-2-1 after losing to New Jersey 1-0 in overtime Wednesday the Sabres third straight loss on home ice. They opened the season with a win in Ottawa.

Goaltenders – Montreal – Carey Price has faced 110 shots, the most of any goaltender who has started three or fewer games. His GAA is 2.95 after three games. He has a career 5-4-3 record with a 2.20GAA vs. the Sabres.  Buffalo-Ryan Miller had a 4-1-1 with a 1.97 GAA and a shutout against the Canadiens last season.  Miller has won six of last eight vs the Canadiens (6-1-1). Career vs. Canadiens 17-6-5 – 2.45GAA. Price 5-4-3 with a 2.20GAA vs. Buffalo.

Notes Canadiens Special Teams Power play 0-9. Penalty Killing 88.2% … The last time the Sabres lost three straight home games was 1993-94.  The Canadiens have lost five of the last six games in Buffalo.
