Opening weekend for the Hamilton Bulldogs produced mixed results. Friday night they scored five straight goals en route to a come-from-behind 5-2 win in Rochester. Saturday afternoon before 6,142 fans at Copps Coliseum, the Toronto Marlies turned the tables by scoring four straight on Hamilton for a 5-3 victory in the Bulldogs 15th home opener.

Before their first game of the year the Bulldogs, as expected, re-named veteran defenceman Alex Henry team captain. In home games, David Desharnais and Ryan White will be the alternates while Mathieu Carle and Ben Maxwell will fill that role on the road. The Bulldogs also activated forward Ryan Russell who had suffered a training camp injury.

Five different players scored in the Rochester victory including Kyle Klubertanz, Ben Maxsell, David Desharnais (also 1 assist), J.T. Wyman and Andrew Conboy. Yannick Weber recorded two assists.

At home against the Marlies Ben Maxwell scored his 2nd and 3rd goals of the season and had seven shots on goal. Yannick Weber scored the other goal plus an assist. Max Pacioretty had two assists. Robert Mayer was in the Hamilton nets for both games.
