The Canadiens posted their roster for their annual July development camp on Thursday. Fifty players have been invited including five of their six 2014 draft choices and seven regular members of their Hamilton Bulldogs roster.
In their neverending search for unheralded talent, 21 of the 50 player roster will be made up of invitees. The Canadiens signed four undrafted invitgee players to contracts out of last year’s development camp including RW Stefan Fournier who received an entry level two-way contract plus centres Ben Duffy and Stephen MacAulay and defenseman Matt Grassi all of whom signed AHL/ECHL deals.
First round draft choice Nikita Scherbak will lead the Canadiens draft class of 2014 at the camp. The only no-show of the six players taken will be seventh round choice Jake Evans.
Among those invited from the Hamilton Bulldogs are forwards Sven Andrighetto, Stefan Fournier and Patrick Holland plus defensemen Nathan Beaulieu, Morgan Ellis and Darren Dietz and goaltender Mike Condon.
The camp opens Monday morning July 7th at 9.30am on both ice surfaces at the Brossard Training centre. . On-ice practice sessions will take place in the morning for the remainder of the week, with scrimmages at the end of the day. A three-period intra-squad game will be played on Friday, July 11, at 9:30 a.m.
All practices will are open to the public.
