The Canadiens sent defenseman Jarred Tinordi to Hamilton Wednesday morning. They made the move before the arrival of Sergei Gonchar because the Bulldogs were due to leave for St. John’s Newfoundland later Wednesday for a two game series against the Winnipeg Jets affiliate scheduled for Thursday and Friday. This is Tinordi’s second stint with the Bulldogs in a week. He played two games in Hamilton last weekend.
After a couple of strong games playing alongside Tom Gilbert, Nathan Beaulieu remains with the team. Unless Michel Therrien decides to sit one of his veteran defensemen, Beaulieu appears fated to be the Habs seventh man.
Gonchar is due to arrive in Montreal on a flight from Phoenix Arizona Wednesday night. After meeting with him Thursday morning, Therrien will decide whether to put him in the lineup against the Bruins Thursday night.
Gonchar suffered a broken ankle blocking a shot in Dallas’ final pre-season game and played his first game only last week.
