After a rare two-day break the Canadiens were on the practice ice Wednesday as they prepare for their back-to-back set against the Buffalo Sabres Friday and Saturday night.
Newcomer Eric Tangradi was at practice after his call up from the Hamilton Bulldogs Tuesday. The 6’4” left winger was skating on the fourth line with Manny Malhotra and Dale Weise. Tangradi will wear #17 for the Canadiens. here when the Canadiens play the Sabres on Friday and Saturday nights. Tangradi has been give the number 17 worn last by Rene Bourque.
This was the first opportunity for Tangradi to practice with the Canadiens. He was acquired in the trade that sent goaltender Peter Budaj and forward Patrick Holland to Winnipeg right at the end of training camp and was sent immediately to the Hamilton Bulldogs camp.
On defense, Mike Gilbert appears to be the odd man out after the arrival of Bryan Allen over the weekend. Allen, a left shot was paired with Mike Weaver for most of the practice.
No indication from the coaching staff on the goaltending rotation for the weekend. It’s possible that Michel Therrien will give Dustin Tokarski a second straight start in Buffalo Friday night and save Carey Price for the home on Sunday.
