Game Notes

.The Canadiens have won two straight and seven of their last 9. A win in this game and a Tampa loss in regulation at Nashville would put the Canadiens in the Eastern Conference lead with three games in hand over the Lightning.

.The Flyers come to Montreal riding a 5-0-1 streak in which they’ve given up ten goals.

.In their last 16 games against the Canadiens Philadelphia is 10-5-1 dating back to the start of 2010-11. All five of the losses have come at the Bell Centre where the Flyers are 3-5-0 over the last eight.

.Philadelphia is nine points behind the Bruins and the the final Wild Card berth.

.Carey Price is 4-8-0 over his last 12 games vs. the Flyers. In 20 career games against them he is 10-9-0 with a 2.69GAA with 2 shutouts.

.Since January first Price has a 9-2-1 record with a 1.65GAA, a .944save% and two shutouts.  In 19 appearances since December 6th he has allowed two goals or fewer 17 times for a 15-3-1 record with a 1.52GAA  .948save%. .

.Ray Emery has started both of the Flyers games against the Canadiens this season allowing 9 goals on 66 shots and losing both. His career record against Montreal is 9-8-1 with a 3.05GAA and one shutout.

.The Flyers have averaged 3.42 goals per game when Emery plays, the highest goal support of any NHL goaltender. (2.04 when Mason was in goal). Emery has been giving up goals at a 3.34 rate.

.David Desharnais has six points in his last three games enough to earn him the NHL’s third star of last week. All but one of the points were scored as part of the re-assembled line with Pacioretty and Weise..

.The line was re-formed for the third period of the game against Buffalo on Tuesday. In the seven periods since, it has been on the ice for 7 of the Canadiens 11 goals amassing 5 goals and 10 assists.

.Dale Weise scored two goals against Philadelphia the last time the teams met in November. Overall, he has three of his nine goals in his last two games and five points over his last three games.

.Alex Galchenyuk has scored 3 goals and 6 assists in 7 career games against the Flyers.

.Jakub Voracek has 3 goals and 13 assists in his last 15 games.

.Vincent Lecavalier is down on the Flyers fourth line. After 39 games he has 7 goals and 16 points. Lecavalier has three years remaining on his five year contract at a 4.5 million cap hit.

.In Sunday’s 3-1 win over Washington, Flyer goaltender Steve Mason went to the bench during a second period TV timeout for water and to stretch. During the stretching something popped in his right knee and he had to be helped to the dressing room. Mason underwent arthroscopic surgery this week. His .924 save% was 6th best in the league.
