.RW-Devante Smith-Pelly will make his debut taking Christian Thomas spot in the lineup.  He’ll  be eased in on the fourth line with Malhotra and Bournival. With Anaheim he had 5 goals, 17 assists and was plus-1 in 54 games. His 147 hits would make him second on the Canadiens behind Alexei Emelin’s 157.

….Pierre Lebrun of ESPN.com reports through his sources that the Canadiens outbid Boston for Smith-Pelly.

.Smith-Pelly played on 2012 Junior Team Canada with Nathan Beaulieu, Brendan Gallagher and Michael Bournival.

.The Canadiens are trying to become the third NHL team to record 40 wins, joining Nashville (41) and the Islanders (40).

.If the Canadiens were to maintain their season-long pace they would finish with 53 victories and 113 points. The Canadiens haven’t won more than fifty games in a season since 1988-89 (53), also the last year they had 110 points (115)

.The Canadiens have won seven of the last ten games and earned at least a point in 14 of their last 17.

.In winning ten of their last twelve on the road the Canadiens have limited the opposition to 1.6 goals per game.

.This is the second meeting between the Blue Jackets and Canadiens in five days. The Canadiens are looking for a season sweep. They are now 4-1-0 over their last five meetings vs. Columbus and 4-1-1 all-time in Columbus.

.Since losing 3-1 to the Canadiens Saturday night, the Blue Jackets lost 4-3 to the Rangers in a shootout Sunday at New York and lost 4-2 to Buffalo Tuesday at home. (10 goals against in their last three games).

.Columbus has lost six of their last nine at Nationwide Arena.

.Carey Price is looking for his team-record tenth road win in a row. During the nine game road win streak he has given up a total of ten goals for a 1.11GAA and a .960save%.
