Ahead of the Game 

.Andrei Markov returns to the Canadiens after being rested vs. New Jersey Friday replacing Sergei Gonchar. Torrey Mitchell returns to centre the fourth line.  Manny Malhotra will be a healthy scratch along with Gonchar, Weaver, Pateryn and Flynn.   Carey Price in goal vs. Panthers backup Dan Ellis.

Over the last ten games in the race for first place in the Atlantic Division the Canadiens have registered eleven of a possible 20 points (4-3-3). During the same 10 game stretch, Tampa Bay has also recorded 11 of 20 available points (5-4-1).

.The Canadiens have locked up at least home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

..The Canadiens are currently tied with Tampa for first in the Atlantic division with 104 points.  The Canadiens have a game in hand.  Because of the ROW (regulation & Overtime Wins) tiebreaker which favours Tampa, the Canadiens must lead by at least a point in order to win their division.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS

.The Florida Panthers were finally eliminated from playoff contention when they were beaten 4-0 by Tampa Saturday.

.The Panthers are the NHL’s most-improved team. They won 29 games and recorded 66 points last season. This season, with three to play, they have 36 victories and 87 points, an improvement of 21 points.

.Florida has missed the playoffs 13 of the last 14 seasons.

.Including all four games against the Canadiens the Panthers have played in a league leading 47 one-goal games.

.Dan Ellis will get the start on the second of back-to-back games. He has a 1-2-0 record vs. the Canadiens in three appearances. He was in goal for the Canadiens March 17th the only win against Florida in regulation time. He gave up three goals on 25 shots.

.Ellis was called up from AHL San Antonio when backup Al Montoya suffered a groin injury. He has a record 4-2-1 with a 2.11GAA and .922save%.

.Jonathan Huberdeau has five assists his last four games against the Canadiens. He has eight points in his previous seven games overall.
