Worth Noting

….The 4-0-0 Canadiens have never started a season with five consecutive victories. Their best season start was 1943-44 when they started a season 11-3-0.

….The most consecutive victories to start a season is 10; a record shared by the 2006 Buffalo Sabres and the 1993 Toronto Maple Leafs.

….Fast season starts are becoming a Michel Therrien trademark. In his current four season tenure with the Canadiens, he was 7-1-0 in 2012; 5-2-0 in 2013 and in 2014 7-1-0 and now 4-0-0.

….The last time the Canadiens lost a season series against the Rangers was 2007-2008. In the seven years since they have a record of 17-7-1.

….In the last eleven games vs. the Rangers at the Bell Centre, the Canadiens are 11-1-1. In the last ten games in Montreal the Rangers have been shutout six times and have scored a total of 5 goals.

….Worse – In the last eight in Montreal the Rangers are 1-7-0 and have been outscored 20-3. The only victory was 1-0 January 23, 2010. Cam Fowler got the shutout and Ryan Callahan scored the only goal on a two-man Rangers advantage.

….The Canadiens won two of three vs. the Rangers last season. In his two starts against them Carey Price had a shutout and stopped 58 of 59 shots. Dustin Tokarski was in goal for the 5-0 loss at Madison Square Garden Nov. 23rd.

1 rangers preview price….Carey Price has started the season with a 1.67GAA and .945 save% in three stars.

….Price’s career record against the Rangers is 10-5-1 with a 1.86 GAA and .940save%.

….Price has shutout the Rangers in six of his last twelve appearances against them – five of them at the Bell Centre.

….In seven starts home and away against the Rangers over the last three seasons Price has a .986 save%. (6-1-0 with 0.43GAA)

….In Price‘s last ten appearances vs. New York at the Bell Centre he is 8-1-1 with a 1.16 GAA and a .962 save% with five shutouts.

….Henrik Lundqvist has started all four Rangers games including back-to-back against Columbus. His first loss of the season was against Winnipeg earlier in the week. In four starts he has 2.26GAA and .933 save%

….Lifetime at the Bell Centre Lundqvist is 4-6-2 with a 3.81GAA and an .878save%. In his last five starts in Montreal he is 0-4-1 with a 4.30GAA.

1 ranger pacioretty….Max Pacioretty leads the Canadiens with four goals and in points with six. He is already back in the league plus/minus lead at plus-6 (along with P.K. Subban and Andrei Markov).

….In three games last season, Pacioretty had two goals and an assist vs. the Rangers.

….P.K. Subban is averaging 25:49 through four games this season, fifth in the league.  (LA’s Drew Doughtly leads at 27:51).  Andrei Markov is at 23:02 per game.

….Both teams are struggling on the power play. The Canadiens are 2 for 16 to start the season. The Rangers are 1 for 9.

….After playing in the first four games, Jarret Stoll will be a healthy scratch against the Canadiens in favour of Emerson Etem. Stoll was signed as a free agent.  Stoll was arrested in April on a felony cocaine possession charge in Las Vegas which was later pleaded down to a misdemeanor.  Etem came to the Rangers as part of the trade that sent defenseman Carl Hagelin to Anaheim.

….Swedish centre Oscar Lindberg was named the top rookie in Rangers training camp.  He leads the Rangers with four goals in four game and shares the team points lead at four with J.T. Miller.  Lindberg was originally drafted by Arizona in the second round of the 2010 entry draft but was traded to the Rangers the following season for somebody named Ethan Werek, a forward currently in the ECHL.

….Six players currently share the NHL goalscoring lead at 4 including Lindberg and Pacioretty.

….In his last six games against the Canadiens Rick Nash has 1 goal, 0 assists.
