1 price edmontonCarey Price suffered an injury in Edmonton Thursday night that is serious enough to warrant the hockey club sitting him out a week.

Rookie Mike Condon, who was the winning goaltender and second star in Friday night’s win in Calgary will start against the Winnipeg Jets Sunday and, presumably the remaining games on the homestand against Ottawa, the Islanders and Boston onTuesday, Thursday and Saturday.  In his first three NHL starts Condon has allowed only five goals.

Dustin Tokarski was called up from the Canadiens St. John’s IceCaps affiliate to act as Condon’s backup.

The nature of Price’s injury has not been made known other than ‘lower body’.  Price had some skateblade problems during the game which may, or may not have been a contributing factor.

Price is 7-2-0 with a 2.01 GAA so far this season.

Condon is 3-0-0 with a 1.67GAA and .944 save percentage.  Sunday’s game against Winnipeg will be his first career appearance at the Bell Centre.

At St. John’s, Tokarski was 2-2-1 with an .891 save%.   First year pro Zach Fucale has started his pro career with a 4-1-0 record and a .920 save%.

Prior to Sunday’s game, Price will be presented with the Molson Cup for October.  Price was named a star in five of his seven consecutive wins during the month including first star three times.
