Everyone deserves a second chance, so the saying goes but for the Canadiens Zack Kassian this isn’t a second chance. He’s now operating on number three and the team clearly feels that they don’t want his problems to have any influence in the dressing room of their St. John’s IceCaps AHL affiliate at least until it’s clear he has overcome whatever addiction problems he faced while with the Vancouver Canucks and during his brief stay with the Canadiens.
Saturday he was told not to report to St. John’s at least for now. The exact reasons why are a little vague but Kassian does remain in the Canadiens organization at least for now. We are told that the decision to delay his return to the game came through a mutual agreement between Kassian’s agent and the Habs front office. .
Kassian had completed his second league mandate treatment programme on December 16th and had been cleared to play. . He quickly cleared waivers and was due to join the IceCaps this week. The IceCaps play the Marlies in Toronto Saturday night.
