Playing a regular season hockey game in the morning didn’t sit well with the Hamilton Bulldogs Wednesday. The Lake Erie Monsters defeated them 5-1 in a game that started at 10.45am in Cleveland. David Desharnais opened the scoring early in the second period, but Cleveland came back with five straight goals for the win. Robert Mayer gave up five goals on 25 Lake Erie shots.

Ben Walter, son of former Canadiens forward Ryan, led Lake Erie scorers with two goals and an assist.

Prior to this morning’s game, the Bulldogs had gone eight straight games without a loss in regulation time including five straight victories. The Bulldogs return to Copps Coliseum for back-to-back games on Saturday and Sunday both with scheduled start times of 4:00 p.m

Notes– Goaltender Peter Delmas was assigned to the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League on Tuesday.
Delmas, 20, played in two games with the Bulldogs this season earning a record of 1-0-1 with a 1.92 goals-against-average and a .933 save percentage. Last season, the 6-foot-3, 183-pound goaltender split the season between the Quebec Remparts and Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL.  Delmas was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2nd round, 61st overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and was signed as a free agent by Hamilton on October 14, 2010.
