1 caps IIWith three of their key offensive weapons currently on the roster of the Canadiens, the St. John’s IceCaps offense has dried up.

Without forwards Daniel Carr and Sven Andrighetto plus defenseman Mark Barberio, the IceCaps were held to one goal for the third consecutive game in a 2-1 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. It was the third consecutive St. John’s loss, all at home and their fifth in the last six games.

St. John’s captain Gabriel Dumont scored on the game’s first shot on goal 21 seconds into the first period and AHL All-Star Matt Murray was airtight the rest of the way. A power play goal by Derrick Pouliot evened the game in the second period and Jean-Sebastian Dea scored the game winner early in the third. Shots on goal were 34-23 in favour of St. John’s including 16-7 in the third period. Zach Fucale was in goal for St. John’s.

The teams will meet again Wednesday night at Mile One Centre in St. John’s.  That will be followed by two home games against the league leading Toronto Marlies Saturday and Sunday.
