1 FUCALECanadiens 2013 second draft choice Zach Fucale was named the AHL’s player of the week for the period ending February 14th.

Fucale won each of his three starts last week while stopping 107 of 11 shots for a 1.32 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage.

In the three winning starts for Fucale, the IceCaps were outshot by a combined 111-60. He started the week with 39 saves in first shutout as a professional, a 4-0 win over Syracuse Tuesday. The next night he made 36 saves in a 4-3 win over Syracuse and Saturday allowed one goal on 33 Toronto shots in a 3-1 win.

Fucale was taken 36th overall by the Canadiens in 2013. He finished his junior career with Halifax and Quebec. He was part of the Memorial Cup Champion Halifax Mooseheads in 2013 and won a gold medal with Canada at the World Junior champioships.

In his first professional season Fucale is 13-11-3 with a 3.05 GAA and .906 save % in 30 appearances.
