1 price beaulieuThe Canadiens have seven players out with injury and all of them are now long term, including half of what we considered the Canadiens starting defense.

It was revealed Friday that Nathan Beaulieu will be out of action for at least two more weeks with what is assumed to be a knee injury suffered when he ran into a goalpost against Nashville Monday night.  Jeff Petry and Tom Gilbert are already out with season ending injuries.

Better news. Coach Michel Therrien revealed that Carey Price have taken another stop toward his return to the Canadiens lineup. Price was scheduled to practice in full goaltending equipment Friday afternoon. While recovering from what has been suspected to be a medial collateral ligament injury, Price has been skating in only a track suit. There’s still no date for a scheduled return if any this season. He definitely will not be on next week’s four game Western road swing.

The Canadiens are down to six healthy defensemen. They will likely call somebody up from their St. John’s AHL affiliate Saturday (Morgan Ellis?). St. John’s is playing the Comets in Utica New York Friday night.

St. John’s has got it’s own roster problems. Along with the six players now on recall to the Canadiens (Andrighetto; de la Rose; Lessio; Barberio; Bartley & the injured Carr), the IceCaps have five regulars out with injuries including team captain Gabriel Dumont and left wing Michael Bournival.
