Notes

….After 56 games the IceCaps have a record of 23-23-10 and the Canadiens AHL affiliate is in danger of missing the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season, the previous three as the Hamilton Bulldogs.

….There was a strong Montreal connection on the Utica roster.  Former Canadien forwards Brandon Prust and Chris Higgins were in the game after clearing Vancouver waivers.   On the Utica defense was Jordan Subban, P.K.’s youngest brother and a 2013 fourth round Vancouver draft choice.  Subban was involved in a fight with Charles Hudon late in the third period.

….After a brief two-game return to the wing, former Canadiens first round draft pick Nikita Scherbak was back at centre on a line with Max Friberg and Gabriel Dumont.

….The injuries and recalls by the parent Canadiens have take a toll on the IceCaps offense. Over their last six games they have scored a total of nine goals, an average of 1.5 per game.  They were outscored 18-9 over the last six games.

….St. John’s has used 45 different players in games this season.

….Two of the IceCaps injured forwards returned to the lineup this week. On Wednesday in Albany Jeremy Gregoire came off a month long stay on the injury list along with Charles Hudon. Team Captain Gabriel Dumont was back in the lineup for this game. Still out with injuries are forwards Michael Bournival, Markus Eisenschmid and Connor Crisp.

….The IceCaps have used 45 different players in games this season.

….Six IceCaps are on recall to the Canadiens including defensemen Victor Bartley and Mark Barberio along with forwards Sven Andrighetto, Jacob de la Rose, Lucas Lessio and the injured Daniel Carr.

….The IceCaps announced the recall of defenseman Mac Bennett from the Brampton Beast of the ECHL on Friday.
