Lineup Changes

….Mike Brown returns to the lineup on the fourth line with Torrey Mitchell and Paul Byron.

….This is the third of three meetings. The teams have split the first two meetings. The Hurricanes won 3-2 Dec. 5th at Raleigh. The Canadiens won 2-1 in a shootout at the Bell Centre Feb. 7th.

….Going into the Dec. 5th game at Carolina, the Canadiens led the Eastern Conference and were one point off the best record in the league.  A third period power play goal by Jeff Skinner broke a 2-2 tie and gave Carolina the 3-2 win. It followed a 3-2 loss to Washington.  Those back-to-back defeats were the start of a streak of nine losses in ten games and marked the beginning of the Canadiens season-long collapse.

….Going into the December 5th game the Canadiens led the Eastern Conference and were one point off the best record in the league.

Three times in Canadiens history five goaltenders played in a single season – 2001-2002, 1995-96 and 1993-94.

….Lindgren will be the 46th player to dress for a Canadiens game this season, equivalent of two full 23 player rosters. He is the 11th to make his NHL debut.

….Lindgren is the first to make his professional hockey debut straight out NCAA college ranks since left wing John Leclair joined them straight out of the University of Vermont in 1991.

….In their last game, Carolina dented the Bruins playoff hopes with a 2-1 shootout win Tuesday.

….The Hurricanes will miss the playoffs for the seventh consecutive season.

….The Hurricanes recalled right wing Derek Ryan from their AHL affiliate Thursday. Ryan played last season in the Swedish league after spending three years in Austrian League, all of this after completing a college career at the university of Alberta.

….Carolina ranks 26th in league scoring and are 17th in goals against.




….Charlie Lindgren posted a 30-9-1 record with a 2.08 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage in his final season with St. Cloud State Huskies. This will be his debut in professional hockey.

….Cam Ward will be an unrestricted free agent on July first.

….Versus the Canadiens this season Ward is 1-1 with a 1.44GAA and .958 save percentage – 69 saves on 72 shots.

….For the season Ward is 23-26 with a 2.37GAA – 15-13 at home with a 2.41GAA.
