Michael Cammalleri suffered his separated shoulder when he was bumped into the boards from behind by the Sabres Mike Weber on January 18th. Although there were rumours of an early return, the original estimate of a month on the sidelines proved accurate. Cammalleri made his first practice appearance with his teammates this morning at the Brossard Training Centre. He didn’t scrimmage with his linemates however.
Joining him were Max Pacioretty, who appeared to damage his wrist or elbow in the third period of Saturday night’s against Toronto, and Mathieu Darche who’s missed two games with a groin pull.
After missing eleven games, don’t expect Cammalleri to play tomorrow night against those same Sabres, but he might be available some time during the three game Western swing through Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Given his druthers, I’m sure Cammalleri’s targeting the Heritage Classic in Calgary Sunday. Without him the Canadiens record was 5-3-3.
The other member of the walking wounded, Hal Gill worked out with the team trainer on the other sheet of ice.
Here are the practice lines
Defence – Hamrlik/Wisniewski – Spacek/Subban – Picard/Weber
