The Hamilton Bulldogs struck for three unanswered first period goals and skated to a 5-2 win over the Oklahoma City Barons in the opening game of AHL’s North Division semi-final.

Nigel Dawes scored a goal and added an assist.  The other goals were scored by Olivier Fortier, Ryan Russell, Aaron Palushaj and Joe Stejskal.  For Stejskal, who spent the past season finishing up his college career at Dartmouth College, it was his first goal in professional hockey.  Kyle Klubertanz and Andreas Engqvist each had two assists.

Game two of the series will be played Saturday at Copps Coliseum.  Gametime 4.00pm.
